[Darktable-users] How to change UI language?

Hello,

I'd like to know, how I can change the language of the Darktable user
interface. It's nice to have the UI on my own language, but the problem
is that the documentation is in English. I'm trying to select the right
modules for my processing needs, but it's often surprisingly difficult
to connect the name in the user guide to the right name in the module
selector. Many of the terms are new to me and often difficult in both
languages, so in many cases the translation isn't obvious. The fact that
the names are not readily visible in the module selector (you have to
hover the cursor over the icon to see the name) doesn't make it any
easier.

This question has already been asked on the darktable-users list, but
unfortunately the answer didn't help me:

"Check you environment variables (most likely LANG, maybe LC_ALL or
something similar). Depending on the shell you use you can enter
"env" (on bash) to see all the variables. Maybe it's set somewhere to
Swedish?"

I wasn't able to find the relevant setting or even file.

Thanks!

1) press these keys, together at the same time: "alt-F2"
2) type "xterm" <enter>
3) if your shell is bash (if you have no idea, it probably is), type
into the new window: "export LC_ALL=de_DE" <enter> (for german, google
`list of all locales' or similar for yours)
4) type "darktable" <enter>

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
