[Darktable-users] Raw files .rw2

Dear developers,

up to darktable 1.4.2 I (Canonical) could work with rw2-files from my
Panasonic DMC-FZ200. All went fine.
Now I upgraded to darktable 1:1.6.6-0pmjdebruijn1~trusty, and when I try
to open rw2-files, darktable freezes.
I 'm working under Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty)
Hardware has not changed!

Just tested with RW2-files from DMC-Gxx cameras.
No problems here.
Might be a DMC-FZxx problem or your setup.

That's actually another camera for which we don't have test files. If
you could submit some to rawsamples.ch that would be great. With
Panasonic's specific brand of crazyness we need samples of all the
crop formats (4:3, 1:1, 3:2, and 16:9).

On further thought the FZ200 issue is probably the crops. We currently
only support the 4:3 crop, all the three others will fail.

thanks for your immediately answer.
Out of darktable-lighttable there is no chance to open any crop,
but starting from terminal it's possible to open 4:3 crops and editing them!

Chances are the 4:3 crops are working fine.

So I'll follow your recommendation, uploading .rw2 with different crops to
RAWSAMPLES.CH for You to test.
(Please be patient, having some promblems with FTP)

You can also share a dropbox/drive/etc link with images and I'll take
them from there.

This should be fixed in this commit:

You can try adding those three new camera definitions to
/usr/share/darktable/rawspeed/cameras.xml and it should work. The
1.6.7 version should have that included already.

We switched to rawspeed from libraw in 1.6. Looking at the definitions
the camera should be supported but I don't have any sample raw files
to test it. Could you please open a bug report and provide some
samples? I think upload of files is currently broken in our bug
tracker so a link to dropbox/drive/etc would be fine.

As always it would be nice if samples were also submitted to
rawsamples.ch so there's an open source of samples to do regression
testing with.

Assuming you mean it freezes when opening darktable it's probably not
frozen. If you double click again you should go back to the
lighttable. We need to improve that interaction so it's clear the
image is not working but the program is still running fine.
